Little Planet Media
In a nutshell: we produce distinctive and original cross-platform programming for broadcasters and corporate clients alike.
We are best-known for bringing the world the cult travel show, The Diceman – an adventure travelogue where presenter and cameraman set out to discover what living and travelling in a totally random fashion might be like. On their journey; every decision is made, not by themselves, but by the roll of a dice and each episode becomes a voyage of discovery where chance encounters with people and places provide the content for each show. Four series of 15 episodes of The Diceman were commissioned by the Discovery Channel and it has reached cult status amongst audiences in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
We also produced the Great-Granddaddy of all property shows Seven Year Makeover, chronicling a family’s attempts to rescue a derelict stone water tower and turn it into a remarkable contemporary home. Following the development from design to completion, each episode comprises of three strands: the development of a specific room in the building; a family video-diary documenting the family’s personal highs and lows; and a stand-alone feature on other contemporary cutting-edge homes. The 15-episode series was commissioned by UKTV Style. It has spawned a couple of spin off strands, including: Building The Dream and Inspirational Homes.
We are also very proud to have been involved in the British Makalu Expedition, producing over 2 hours of content for BBC One from the world’s 5th highest mountain – including (at the time) the highest live link from 26,000ft up in the Himalaya!
We are currently working on a raft of new multiplatform projects: including a new fully joined-up, cross platform project with a major UK broadcaster. In plain English: a new version of The Diceman, which you’ll not only be able to watch on your various devices, but you’ll also be able to play the game yourself.
So, watch this space!
